Transfer AppleCare Ownership or Get a Refund (Easy Steps)
How to transfer your AppleCare or AppleCare+ plan to a new owner
STEP 1: Collect your AppleCare/Plus agreement number, your iPhone serial number, your sales receipts for your iPhone and AppleCare plan, and the new device’s serial number and purchase receiptSTEP 2: Contact Apple online or call Apple Support at 1-800-275-2273 to initiate the transfer. You can also mail your request to the address here. If you live outside the United States, check your coverage to make sure it’s possible to transfer AppleCare or AppleCare+ ownership in your region.
How to get a refund for AppleCare or AppleCare+
If you don’t want to transfer ownership of your AppleCare/Plus plan, you can request a prorated refund from Apple:- If you make your request within 30 days of your original purchase, you will receive a full refund (less the value of any provided services)
- After 30 days, Apple will provide a refund based on the percentage of unexpired coverage period less the value of any service provided under the plan AND a cancellation fee of $25 or 10% of the pro-rata amount (whichever is less)
