Locked Out of Your OnePlus Phone? Here’s How to Unlock It
If you factory reset your OnePlus, you can restore data, contacts and photos from a backup. Here’s how to do it.
NOTE: If you have a OnePlus One and it’s still running on the original Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS it was packaged with, you might be able to reset your pin by logging in to Google Find My Device OR by entering an incorrect password on your lock screen five times, which will give you a prompt to log in with your Google account credentials. These features were discontinued after Android 4.4, so if you have upgraded your OnePlus One or have a different model you’ll need to factory reset your phone.
Method 1: Factory reset via Google Find My Device
OnePlus phones run on Oxygen OS, which is an Android skin. That means you can factory reset your phone with Google Find My Device. To use this method, your phone needs to be turned on, have an Internet connection and both Location and Find My Device must be enabled.- Log in to Google Find My Device from a different computer, tablet or other device
- Ensure Google locates your OnePlus phone
- Select ERASE

Method 3: OnePlus unlocking software
If you don’t have a backup and you’re worried about losing valuable data and photos, you can try Android lock screen removal software. Options include iMyFone LockWiper, which claims to be able to bypass your lock screen without losing data.Thoroughly vet any third-party software before you try it. Some unlocking software costs money and others could attempt to install malware on your OnePlus phone. Use Android lock screen removal software at your own risk – there is no guarantee it will work, and you might be better off with a simple factory reset.

How to restore your OnePlus phone after a factory reset
If you had automatic backup enabled before you forgot your password, you can recover your contacts, photos and other data after you set up your OnePlus and sign in to your Google account. You can also recover up to 25 MB of data per app (most apps), your call history, phone settings and SMS text messages. If you didn’t have automatic backup enabled, you can use a manual backup if you have one. If you don’t have a backup, you will not be able to recover your data. In this case, unlocking software might be worth a shot before you wipe your OnePlus phone.
