Need to know how much storage your iPad has? Want to figure out how much space your apps are using? Here’s how to find your iPad storage capacity on your device or with iTunes.
Method 1: Via your iPad
- Browse to SETTINGS > GENERAL > IPAD STORAGE
- Your iPad will display its storage capacity and how much free space is available
Your iPad will also display a color-coded bar that depicts which items are taking up space on your iPad: media, apps, photos, messages and other. Below that, you’ll see a list of installed apps and how much space each uses.
Method 2: Via iTunes
- Launch iTunes and connect your iPad to your computer
- Select your iPad
- iTunes will display your iPad’s storage capacity
The software will also display a color-coded bar that depicts which items are taking up space on your iPad.
Trying to identify your iPad model? iTunes might display a lower number than the advertised total capacity. This is to account for the space taken up by iOS (the operating system). If so, simply round up to identify your iPad model. For example, if iTunes displays the total capacity as 235 GB, your iPad is a 256 GB model (and obviously not a 128 GB model).
